Reflexionen

Spatialisation is becoming an increasingly prominent aspect of compositional reflection. Not only the sound, but also its context can now be modelled very precisely by new means of signal- processing.
Spatial perception has become subject of exploration and research.
In some branches of Electroacoustic Music the counterparts music and architecture have already merged.
To give this newly discovered quality of Electroacoustic Music some space, a forum of exchange and presentation of this fascinating development to a larger audience, we dedicate the Reflexionen - Festival at the Institute for New Media, Frankfurt, Germany to the subject space, spatialisation and architecture in music.
This festival is co-organized by Jan Jacob Hofmann, architect and composer of spatial electronic music in Frankfurt. He is assisted by the jury consisting of Marc Behrens, Peter Behrendsen, Michael Bloedner, and Bernd Leukert.

We invite composers and electronic musicians who have dealt with "space" in their work, methods of spatialisation or aural perception of space and architecture to make a contribution. It is the aim of the Reflexionen -Festival both to document and to extend this exciting process. Within this context the INM invites composers to submit spatialised compositions and to join the competition.

The works should be spatial or should deal with architecture and/or spatial situations. The music should be composed for multi- speaker arrays and spatiality should be perceivable for a larger audience.
